6/15/09 Jane's Addiction done with NINJA tour


the NINJA tour was great. this original line up has brought some old fans back into the fold, converted some NIN fans, and maybe even won over some completely new fans. this leg of the tour is officially over. after some time off, nine inch nails and jane's addiction will join up again in england for two shows. the other shows will be jane's addiction only. good time to be a jane's addiction fan, enjoy it while it's here.

3.20.09 the day is here, jane's addiction is back


lots of news to cover today.

+SXSW jane's addiction played it's first show outside of their home state last night, since reforming last year. a not so secret show in austin TX, SXSW. the band made sure fans got into the show and they seem to have a great time. lots of praise coming out of this show.

+NINJA E.P. the new tour site www.ninja2009.com launched this morning. streaming songs from the three artists on tour. including two newly recorded studio tracks from jane's addiction, whores and chip away. oh, streaming isn't good enough? well, how about a FREE download. you pick the quality you want and it's all yrs. there are some great classic photos of jane's addiction by none other than karyn cantor. she is the ultimate photographer for the early jane's addiction days. her collection of photos is the holy grail for some of us fans. that's not all, there is also pro footage of the La Cita show.

+billboard although billboard.com can't seem to get the right photo of the band up, they do have a good article about the new EP. Perry Farrell also says they will debut new jane's addiction tracks on the upcoming tour. these are tracks they worked on when recording 'chip away' and 'whores' with trent reznor and alan moulder back in jan/feb of this year.

3.6.09 the order of updates, and signing up for the bored


generally, i try to update the twitter account, the bored, then the front page. there are lots of people posting new stuff in the bored. i am passing along everything i can on twitter and then lastly, i'm posting it here on the front page. it takes a little more effort to post info here on the front page. i can do twitter from my phone and there are so many great sources on the bored passing along info, it is worth signing up for both.

which brings up a great subject. signing up for the bored. i know i've slacked on approving new users. i am getting a shitload of spam accounts and i'm sorting through them. i do plan on doing something about it, but i have not yet. if i have not approved you, don't take it personally. i don't know you and i'm not neglecting you. it's just a pain to wade through the names and figure out who is real, who is a bot.

3.5.09 street sweeper, opening act for NIN/JA


trent reznor announced on twitter, that street sweeper will be the opening act for the upcoming NIN/JA tour. street sweeper is a new band/project from tom morello and boots riley. it sounds very much like rage against the machine. it is tom morello after all. it should be a good live band to see. i'll post some corresponding links below.

some tickets on sale dates are showing up. i would advise you to sign up over at tour.nin.com. they have a pre sale for NIN shows and this should be no different.

2.20.09 jane's addiction playing SXSW, yes maybe

i have a couple of people telling me jane's addiction is playing SXSW in March. perry farrell is already announced as playing march 21st at the pangaea is confirmed. there isn't enough confirmation just yet to go buy yr plane tickets. but it is very likely they will or could or possibly might play. this would be the first out of state show for the newly reunited original line up. this might even be close enough for me to go. so i'm excited as shit. let me repeat, no confirmation just yet, but keep yr ear to the ground on this one.

2.17.09 jane's addiction "killed" it for home crowd, ninja tour announced


last night was a true show for the fans. jane's addiction seems to have made every effort to include the fans that wanted and could make it to the show with $10 in their hand. everything i've read from those who went were very pleased, even blown away. jane's addiciton is the sum of it's parts and eric avery is proving that with every new show. cheers to having him back in the fold.

meanwhile, trent posted on www.nin.com that he and jane's addiction have a tour planned together. this was already bubbling up in the rumors and speculation layer of the internet, since january. a final confirmation is great to hear.



2.13.09 jane's addiction in the studio


here's another photo. i skipped the silhouette of perry farrell. it's a great shot, but it's just too mysterious for me to comment on. now this latest pic is somewhat telling. what old song did dave play acoustic guitar and eric play keyboards? slow divers. possibly a new studio version of slow divers? if you aren't familiar with this song, it is one of the better songs that came out of the original line up days. there is a live version on the "kettle whistle" release and if you are the collecting type, you likely have a rehearsal version of this song in it's very early stages. the rehearsal version featuring dave on acoustic, perry working out the melody, and casey giving some audible suggestions on how to sing the song.

then again, i could be way off. what do you think?



2.12.09 jane's addiction box set april 28th

the L.A. Times blog was able to do somethings we lowly fans couldn't do. that is confirm two things from jane's addiction's manager peter katsis. one being obvious, jane's addiction is in the studio. two the box set has a new release date, april 28th. they got a "no comment" on the reznor connection and a "no comment" on a tour. which pretty much confirms it right?

2.11.09 jane's addiction in the studio


it appears obvious that jane's addiction is in the studio. with two new pics popping up again on nin.com. you can see both below. it spurs more questions really. the first being, why is all this jane's addiciton news on a nine inch nails site? what songs are they recording, new or old? is it just a few songs for the box set or have they managed to rack up enough songs for an album? this could be just the demo phase?

ah, well, i'm sure whatever is going on, it will be great and revealed at some point. for now enjoy the numerous threads of speculation on this site and nin's site.

it's funny what one picture will do. a picture of eric avery in a studio was posted on nin.com and now the speculation is flying. is it simply eric avery working with trent reznor? what if trent posted on his twitter account that he was "in the studio, no NIN." some speculate is now producing jane's addiction. it's all great stuff. now add the newest pic which is entitled 'YES' and suddenly we are even more confused.

did i mention the eric avery pic was entitled "clue2"?

what do i know? i know jane's addiction and nine inch nails are doing something together. the only thing i don't know is how elaborate this thing will be. let yr imagination run wild and prepare to be disappointed; or just wait patiently and enjoy whatever it becomes.

jane's addiction will be performing again soon in LA. that's what the blog at www.janesaddiction.com has been edited to read now. apparently plans for a show on feb. 9th are cancelled.

fuck. im really sorry but the show i briefly blogged about, then pulled, is postponed. it seems we cant seem to put together one of these shows without some major malfunction. we will be doing something over the next few weeks. will of course let you know. as the blog post mentioned this was a last minute thing. here is the proof of just how last minute it was. will keep you all posted. again please accept my heart felt apology.

perry will be appearing at coachella, but jane's addiciton will not. rest assured the guys in jane's addiction are likely not sitting on their hands though. there are more than a few sources claiming a spring tour. more info when i get it.

1.22.09 Jane's Addiction tour a reality


there are rumors, well sourced rumors, that at least one Jane's Addiction show is showing up. the strangest part being it's Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails. A double headliner? Is this one show or part of a larger tour between these two bands? only time will tell. one thing that appears clear to me (speculation, of course), the box set will be released and likely supported by a spring tour.

Theory of Banyan is a documentary on Banyan. it covers all 3 records. has lots of in studio and live footage. some interviews about the different line ups and the live show. obviously that all equals to the theory of banyan.

1.11.09 Jane's Addiction to tour sometime this year


Jane's Addiction has apprently made some news lately for a supposed tour later this year. as if any person on the face of the planet couldn't have just guessed at this piece of news. no real confirmation of any sort. somethings to possibly expect this year: jane's addiction tour, jane's addiction headlining lollapalooza, jane's addiciton box set, and possibly a new song or two for the box set from the current/original jane's addiciton line up. all guesses. but if real online journalist can do it and call it news, so can we.
